COVID-19 added a new layer of complexity for health care workers. At times it might be hard to recall the level of fear, anger and distrust that accompanied the pandemic. The risks of exposure to COVID-19 were very real. Everyone operates within a system and COVID-19 added another element to this system (4-6).
Nurses and midwives had to manage their own families, including aging family members or those who required home-schooling, but also their clients who were facing similar struggles.
Some people chose not to be immunised and this group presented their own challenges particularly when the evidence pointed to the advantages gained through vaccination. Having the opportunity to talk about and address some of these issues in supervision, albeit via telehealth, proved helpful.
