ASHM HIV Management Guide for Clinical Care

The HIV Management Guide for Clinical Care is a key resource for health practitioners managing and caring for people living with HIV in Australia. It sets out the basic principles of preventing, diagnosing and managing HIV and HIV associated disease.
First published in 2003, the Guide grew out of an earlier printed monograph that served Australian practitioners for many years, and has evolved across many editions and updates since. It has been reformatted into an online resource and revised to reflect the changing nature of HIV care, with a stronger focus on care delivered in primary and general hospital settings. Some sections were updated before 2024 and may contain language or recommendations that no longer align with current clinical evidence. Readers should refer to other more up to date guidelines for the latest clinical information on HIV in Australia.
The Guide reflects the work of many authors who have generously contributed their time and expertise across successive editions over many years. We gratefully acknowledge their ongoing contribution to this resource.
